Yoga Center teachers are preparing for or have achieved certification with the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States. They bring a wealth of experience to their classes, as well as a commitment to furthering their education through study with the Iyengars or with senior-level Iyengar instructors in the U.S. and abroad.
In addition to the advanced study of asanas and pranayamas, their training includes teaching methods, anatomy, and philosophy.

Lisa Giroux is a non-practicing R.N. who has been studying and practicing yoga in the Iyengar tradition since 1995. She has passed the first half of the intensive Iyengar instructor training certification. It is a two-part certification, the first assessment taken after rigorous study with senior level Iyengar teachers for many years. She has over 1,000 hours of study with senior teachers, including B.K.S. and Geeta Iyengar. Email Lisa.

Katie Harpstrite has been practicing Iyengar yoga since 2002. She completed a 200-hour teacher training in the fall of 2008, has attended workshops and teacher trainings with senior-level Iyengar teachers, and dreams of going to India. Katie loves sharing yoga, and is thankful to be part of the wonderful community practicing at the Yoga Center. Email Katie
Mary Howe began practicing yoga in 2000. She is particularly interested in restorative yoga and yoga for the flexibly challenged. She manages Yoga Practice Month (YoMo) for the Yoga Center, with the intention of helping students develop and maintain a strong home practice. Email Mary.

Jill Krebs has studied Iyengar yoga since 1990 and has taught for six years. She studies with senior-level teachers at every opportunity. Jill is co-director of the Yoga Center of Lawrence. Email Jill.

Kim Lacy is certified as an Iyengar instructor through the Iyengar National Association
of the United States. She has studied with the Iyengars in India and
with many senior teachers since 1986. Kim is deeply grateful for the
gift of yoga and wishes to share it with her students.
Rose Rousseau, whose early training was in dance, completed a teacher-training program in 2000. She has taught at YCL and elsewhere for the past eight years. A student of Iyengar yoga for nearly twelve years, she credits her teachers, especially Margaret Carr and Rafael Duran, with inspiring her. She strives to make yoga accessible to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, knowing it will enrich their daily lives. Email Rose.

Anne Underwood began practicing yoga in 1981 and attends several senior-level Iyengar workshops each year. Anne has worked as a massage therapist since 1988. She credits her interest in bodywork to her yoga, and often uses her yoga training with her massage clients. Email Anne.

Margaret Carr is certified as an Iyengar instructor through the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the U.S. She has been a dedicated student and practitioner since 1986, and returned to India in February 2003 for her second trip to study with the Iyengars.
Margaret is a co-founder of the Yoga Center of Lawrence. She now lives and teaches in West Virginia and returns to Lawrence as a visiting teacher when her schedule permits.
Jill and Jack Krebs are co-directors of the Yoga Center of Lawrence.
